God's never heard of Belgium

I am currently reading Andrew McCall Smith's 44 Scotland Street. One character reports having offered a new hymn to the Church of Scotland when it was revising its hymnary. It began:

God's never heard of Belgium,
But loves it just the same,
For God is kind
And doesn't mind -
He's not impressed with fame.

Great fun, I wonder will the French be singing it tonight?
